Holiday Traditions - St. Augustine

Published by tjones under St. Augustine

When we think of the impending holidays and their meanings, what comes to mind? For many it is about re- uniting with loved ones, reminiscing childhood anticipation of the magic, the gift of giving, and creating and embracing a few moments of peace and solace in our busy lives.

Throughout this nation there are numerous things one can do to commence the start of our holiday season. There are cities who boast a robust presentation of luminous decorations. Of course the one city that instantly comes to mind, is none other than New York City itself. From exclusive storefront decorations that lure customers, to the classic scenes we think of such as the brilliantly lavish Rockefeller Christmas tree. Indulging your senses with the holiday glitz and glam could not possibly be more indulging than in The Big Apple.

Published by tjones under San Francisco

From November 23 – January 2, the California Academy of Sciences will celebrate the holiday season with live reindeer, indoor snow flurries, and a suite of polar- and holiday-themed programs during “Tis the Season for Science” six weeks of wintry festivities and family fun with a scientific twist.  Visitors can meet a pair of reindeer in-person, ask a botanist what “mistletoe” actually means, find out what causes the Northern Lights, and more, as they explore the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of life in some of Earth’s most frigid climates.  Music, decorations, and a hot chocolate cart will complete the festive atmosphere.

The most pleasant, informative, and convenient way to tour the historic city of St. Augustine is to take a trolley tour with the Old Town Trolley. Not only were we able to get on and off at all the important sites, we were also given informative information about the charming city of St. Augustine during on tour.  One of our favorite stops by far was the magnificent grace we experienced while touring Flagler College.

St. Augustine Alligator Farm is Great for Families - St. Augustine

Published by vcbelland under St. Augustine

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm attraction exceeded my expectations to say the least. It was certainly not correlated to the distorted image I initially conjured up in my head. It is not similar to some parks that can be known to sensationalize. It does not mock the animals in any way. It certainly is not some interstate side show that entertains with gator wrestling. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm opened in 1893, and is one of the oldest zoos in the USA. It is a quality, well maintained attraction, that will not disappoint you.
