San Diego on a Shoestring Budget – Free Things to Do

San Diego is an exciting place and you will never run out of things to do there. If funds are limited, there are plenty of things to do that are totally free.

• The New Children’s Museum located downtown is open every day except Wednesday. Admission is free the second Sunday of every month and the hours are from 10 to 4. There are performances by artists, exhibitions, and studios where children can create their own art projects.

• The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego has free admission at both the La Jolla and downtown museums the third Thursday every month. The hours for free admission are 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in the country and as such, has a rich and wonderful history to it. It’s also the home some of the best food, music and art in the country as well. As with many tourist destinations, many of the attractions in New Orleans come with a price tag attached but there are a surprising number of activities in this historic city that are free.

- Each Wednesday during the spring months of April to June, there are free concerts held between 5:00 to 7:30 PM in Lafayette Square. Many local musicians play during this season-long festival including The Boogie Men and Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Swingers.
