Free Things To Do In Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a city known around the world. From its gateway to the entertainment capitol of the world to its amazing concert halls and somewhat infamous freeway traffic, it is a city that draws millions of tourists from all over the globe. Here are the top attractions for those visiting the city on a budget.

Olvera Street
Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, Olvera Street is almost like visiting Tijuana forty years ago. The street is narrow, cobblestone and lined with cheap fantastic vending from Mexico. There are also many places to eat traditional Latin American cuisine. Shops are even wedged into basements and outside of parks. There is also an old firehouse that has been converted into a free museum. It houses an antique fire engine that kids enjoy climbing, as well as knowledgeable docents that will love telling them about the history of the edifice.

Santa Monica Beach
No trip to the west coast is complete with the visiting the beach. Santa Monica beach is massive, a white stretch of sand that visibly stretches from Los Angeles to Malibu. While there, see the Santa Monica Pier and walk the long sidewalk trail that winds down the shore. Admiring the beachfront homes is also a fun activity. Or, if you prefer, drive up the cliff that overlooks the ocean and prepare to be stunned by the view.

Santa Monica Boulevard
Drive down Santa Monica Boulevard and spot the famous sites of the city. You will see famed restaurants, shops and theaters. Santa Monica Boulevard winds all the way into Beverly Hills and throughout West Hollywood, so keep your eyes open for movie stars.

La Brea Tar Pits
The La Brea Tar Pits, composed of bubbling black tar and a distinctive odor, are located near an accompanying museum. Explore the intriguing sites of the pits themselves and wonder over to the museum to see the skeletons of a wooly mammoth and saber tooth cat. While the museum charges admission, it is free to view the pits themselves.

Farmer’s Market and The Grove
Enjoy the beautiful weather of Los Angeles with a visit to the Farmer’s Market. While there, discover the amazing combination of fruit, candy, dining and souvenir stands. The Grove often features free concerts from celebrities, book signings, live tapings at the CBS studio right next door and celebrity sightings at the near by high-end stores.

Paramount Pictures
Drive by the famous production studio’s entrance and see the satellite buildings where many famous movies have been filmed.
