Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia

So you’re driving to Atlanta, Georgia from Florida when you see the signs. Wild Adventures ahead. You have to stop don’t you? Of course you do!

Some folks suggest that Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia is less enjoyable than other major Theme Parks. I disagree. Wild Adventures is a nice combination of fun coasters alongside Midway games and rides mixed with up close animals, water play and great concerts. It’s the County Fair, Zoo, Boardwalk and Theme Park all rolled into one.

All ages can find some good times here but the most fun seems to exist for the under 12 crowd. A wonderful Petting zoo, smaller rides and coasters and a splash zone make this a youngster’s paradise. The older gang can seek some thrills with The Hangman, The Boomerang and the new Rattler. The concert lineup for 2008 is also strong featuring names like Reba McEntire, Charlie Daniels, Trace Adkins, ZZ Top and Sugarland.

This is the first full year of new ownership for this regional attraction and by all accounts, things look good. They are adding and improving all the time. I like the more personal nature of this Park and everyone was friendly and helpful. The grounds are compact enough to navigate easily while allowing for many open areas to take a breather between rides. The food was fairly typical theme park food from Turkey legs and BBQ to Hot dogs and Pizza to Ice cream and Giant pretzels. (The giant pretzels are very good…and giant)

So why should you go to Wild Adventures Theme Park?

  • 1) You want something quieter than and different from Orlando, Florida.
  • 2) You’re traveling north or south along I-75 and you need a break.
  • 3) You live close enough for a seasonal pass, which is a great value.
  • 4) You want to ride every roller coaster in the World.
  • 5) You want to visit a really fun Theme Park with a little bit of everything.

Do you really need a reason to have fun? Wild Adventures is a fun, interesting regional theme park and I truly enjoyed my visit. This is a great place for families to enjoy each other’s company. You can make memories here. Like the exit sign says, “Come play again soon!” Go see it. More Photos Here.

The majority of hotels are at Exit 16 or 18. (Wild Adventures is at exit #13) Many new hotels are being built so do your homework to find the one right for you and yours. Local food tends to be chain restaurants or country cooking and I found a good meal and a few pleasant surprises at Austin’s Cattle Company just off exit #16. I heartily suggest it.

*Make sure to ask about their Second Day free program, too.

Tip: Parking in the Park Lot is $7 but right across from the entrance is a $3 parking lot that is a short walk to the main gate.
