4th of July Events in Memphis

Although Memphis is famous for Beale Street, barbeque and Elvis, July 4th is always marked by a wide selection of family-friendly events. These activities are scheduled over several days leading up to the big fireworks display on Independence Day. The events typically feature live music and barbeque. Visitors can attend several of these events and explore the vibrant community named for a city in Egypt.

Children decorate their bikes and scooters in red, white and blue for the parade through Hernando town square. This event is followed by a picnic. The Mud Island Independence Day Celebration is a day of games, rides, food, live music and fireworks. There is an annual Firecracker 5K run/walk to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The event is scheduled to occur in the evening on July 3rd.
